Hemsby is a small coastal village that has a lovely wide sandy beach that is a gentle 10 minute walk away and has natural sand dunes. On your way to the beach you will pass arcades, a small funfair, crazy golf, cafes, shops, The Lacon Arms (a family run pub who welcome the whole family) and many family orientated clubs.
On the lovely sandy beach you will find a giant slide (weather permitting) and you can often see seals swimming very close to the beach.
Hemsby village is mainly a residential area. Kingsway is an area which has a local Spar shop, hairdressers and Chinese restaurant. This also boasts the main area for public transport with buses coming from Great Yarmouth and Martham.
Hemsby also has a local church, St Mary the Virgin and dates from the 14th century.
Walking further to the centre of the village you will find a few gift shops, a butchers, cake shop, fish and chip shop, a combined local post office and general store.
On Thursdays there is a large car boot sale on the local playing field where you will also find a small childrens playground.
Hemsby is only 6 miles from the bustling town of Great Yarmouth where there are all the normal facilities with the added bonus of a long promenade with arcades, horse and cart rides, theatres, cinemas, bowling alley, the Pleasure Beach which is a big funfair and there is Joyland for the little one and slides, trampolines etc on the beach. There are many restaurants to choose from that offer a wide selection or you can just enjoy traditional fish & chips. This is a traditional English seaside resort with a market held on Wednesdays and Saturdays - always something to do for all ages.
The surrounding area of Hemsby boasts some lovely walks by the Norfolk Broads where the fishing is good - boats can be hired locally and there are lots of local pubs serving good food.
